Design of the gear reduction motor module

How to divide modules is a key issue in the modular design of gear reduction motors. Fewer module types, a higher degree of generalization, and larger production batches are conducive to cost reduction. However, from the perspective of system connotation and extension, a comprehensive analysis of the overall product, functions, performance, cost, and other aspects must be conducted during design to reasonably determine the types and quantity of modules.

According to several professional manufacturers abroad, the modules of gear reduction motors can be functionally divided into four categories: power modules, speed‑changing modules, connection modules, and additional modules. Modules within each category can be further refined. For example, power modules can be subdivided into shaft modules, bearing modules, housing modules, gear modules, oil seal modules, and so on. Full consideration should be given to the universality of modules across the entire series. In gear design, for instance, through optimized analysis and unification, the helix angle β is set to 20° and the face width factor Φ to 0.35, with consistent module, number of teeth, and addendum modification coefficients. In this way, gears become universal modules. As mentioned above, in the centre distances of the AF series reducers produced by Germany’s Mannesmann Demag, the first‑stage centre distance of frame size AF06 is identical to the second‑stage centre distance of AF05, and the first‑stage centre distance of AF07 matches the second‑stage centre distance of AF06. This pattern is extended throughout the entire series, mainly to ensure the universality of gear modules within the series.
