How to do a good job in noise reduction for generator sets

We all know that when a generator is in operation, it will produce a large amount of noise. The noise level at a distance of 1 meter from the unit can be as high as 113 decibels. It will also emit a certain amount of high-temperature waste gas, containing a small amount of toxic and harmful combustion waste gas SO2 and CO produced by incomplete combustion, as well as solid carbon particles formed by incomplete combustion, etc. If no measures are taken to manage the computer room, the operation of the generator set will seriously pollute the surrounding environment and affect people’s various activities such as living, working and business travel. The impact on the environment is huge. Therefore, users need to do a good job in the noise reduction project of the generator set. Various noise reduction projects are basically the same. For example, noise problems can be solved through the following methods to achieve a good working environment.

1. Noise reduction of the diesel engine intake system:

 

 

 

When a diesel engine is in operation, it requires sufficient intake air to maintain normal operation. Generally, the intake system should be set directly opposite the exhaust port of the unit fan. Based on our experience, the intake air is forced intake, and the intake air is drawn into the machine room by the blower after passing through the silencing air groove.

 

2. Noise reduction for diesel engine exhaust system

 

The diesel engine uses a water tank fan system for cooling. The water tank radiator must be discharged outside the machine room. To prevent noise from spreading outside the machine room, an exhaust silencing air trough must be set up for the exhaust system.

 

3. Noise reduction at the entrance and exit of the diesel generator room

 

Each computer room should have at least one entrance and exit. From the perspective of noise reduction, the number of computer room doors should not be too many. Generally, one main door and one small door are set up, with an area of no more than 3 square meters as much as possible. In terms of structure, a metal frame is used, with high-strength sound insulation materials attached inside and metal iron plates on the outside. The sound-absorbing doors fit closely with the walls and door frames at the top and bottom.

 

4. Diesel engine exhaust silencing system

 

The exhaust gas emitted by the diesel engine during operation generates a certain amount of noise. We have added a silencing box to the exhaust gas emission system of the unit and wrapped the exhaust silencing pipes with fireproof rock wool materials. This can not only reduce the heat dissipation of the unit into the machine room but also lower the working vibration of the unit, thereby achieving the purpose of noise attenuation.

 

5. Noise reduction for the exhaust system of diesel engines outside the machine room

 

Even after the exhaust air of the diesel engine is noise-reduced through the exhaust silencing air duct, there is still relatively high noise outside the machine room. The exhaust air must be silenced through the silencing air duct set up outside the machine room to minimize the noise. The outside of this silencing air duct is a brick wall structure, and the inside is a sound-absorbing board.

 

The above measures can effectively ensure the normal operation of diesel generator sets, and also effectively control noise, eliminate harm to the human body, and at the same time improve the working efficiency of diesel generator sets.
