Practical methods for performance inspection of diesel generator sets

After the diesel generator sets of Beidou Power Generation Equipment Factory are assembled in the workshop, to ensure that each diesel generator set leaving the factory has excellent performance, stability and strong power. To ensure that every user receives a high-quality diesel generator set, we must inspect the performance of each generator set. What are the practical methods for checking the performance of diesel generator sets?

Test method: The test should be conducted in the ready start-up state as stipulated in the product technical conditions. For each start-up command given, after a successful start-up, the rated load with a power of 50% of 1.0 should be suddenly applied and run for 5 minutes, and then the machine should be shut down. Test 100 times. The startup success rate should be greater than 99%. Otherwise, this item will be regarded as unqualified.

 

2. Check the average failure interval of the diesel generator set

 

Inspection method: When the generator set is operated continuously or cumulatively for more than 1000 hours under a rated load of cosФ=0.8, neither the diesel engine nor the generator should have any faults, and the components of the control circuit should not have more than two faults. Otherwise, it will be considered as unqualified for this item. This indicator allows for assessment during actual operation.

 

3. Check the operation of the diesel generator set with thyristor load

 

Test method: The unit is equipped with a three-phase thyristor rectifier load with cosФ≥0.5, and it should be able to operate stably at any point within the range of 10% to 50% of the rated capacity of the unit. If low-frequency oscillation occurs, adjustments should be made to ensure stable operation; otherwise, this item will be considered unqualified.

 

4. Check the interlocking test of the automated diesel generator set

 

Inspection method: The two units should serve as primary and backup for each other. Either one should be chosen as the main unit. Manually cut off the municipal power supply. After the main unit automatically starts successfully, power will be supplied. Create a fault that causes the main unit to shut down automatically, and the standby unit should be powered on automatically and successfully. When the mains power is restored to normal, the standby unit should automatically shut down. If it is not up to standard, identify the cause and eliminate the fault. The two units are respectively used as the main units. They will be retested three times. If there is still one failure, it will be considered as a failure for this item.

 

5. Check the automatic start-up function of the automated diesel generator set

 

Test method: Connect the starting power supply, move the working mode selection switch of the unit to automatic, send the starting command, and if the unit fails to start successfully due to human error, the unit should start automatically three times. The test is conducted three times. If any one fails, the number of re-tests will be doubled. If there is still one failure, it will be considered as a failure for this item.

 

6. Inspect the automatic replenishment device of the automated unit

 

Test method: After the control circuit is fully connected, move the working mode selection switch to the automatic mode to manually release water and oil to the low liquid level. It should be able to automatically replenish water. When the liquid level rises to the high liquid level, the replenishment should be able to automatically stop the test three times. If there is only one failure, the number of retests should be doubled. If there is still one failure, it is considered as this failure.

 

7. Check the protection performance of the automated unit

 

Test method: For low oil pressure and high cooling water temperature protection, a simulation method is adopted. Overvoltage protection adopts the method of adjusting the output voltage. Phase loss protection adopts the method of artificially disconnecting one phase. Overload protection adopts the method of increasing the load. Each protection test is conducted three times. If any one fails, the number of retests will be doubled. If there is still one failure, it will be considered as a failure for this item.

 

8. Check the cooling water and engine oil heating of the automated unit

 

Test method: Connect the power supply. If the water temperature is lower than 15℃, the heater should start heating. When the temperature reaches 50℃, the heater should stop heating. Connect the power supply. If the temperature of the engine oil is lower than 15℃, the heater should start heating. When the temperature reaches 30℃, the heater should stop heating. Each test will be conducted three times. If any one test fails, the number of re-tests will be doubled. If there is still one failure, it will be considered as a failure for this item.
