The diesel engine drives the generator to operate, converting the energy of diesel into electrical energy.
Inside the diesel engine cylinder, the clean air filtered by the air filter mixes fully with the high-pressure atomized diesel sprayed by the fuel injector. Under the compression of the piston moving upward, the volume decreases and the temperature rises rapidly, reaching the ignition point of diesel. The diesel is ignited, and the mixture burns vigorously, causing the volume to expand rapidly, pushing the piston downward, which is called ‘power generation’. Each cylinder performs power generation in a certain sequence, and the thrust acting on the piston is transformed into the force driving the crankshaft to rotate through the connecting rod, thereby causing the crankshaft to rotate.
By installing the brushless synchronous AC generator coaxially with the diesel engine crankshaft, the rotation of the diesel engine can drive the rotor of the generator. Using the principle of ‘electromagnetic induction’, the generator will output induced electromotive force, and through the closed load circuit, current can be generated.
This is only a description of the basic working principle of the generator set. To obtain usable and stable power output, a series of diesel engine and generator control, protection devices and circuits are also required.
