The brushless excitation generator mainly consists of three parts: the main generator, the rotary rectifier module and the AC exciter. As for the main generator of the rotating pole type, its structure is already quite mature and has fewer faults. The rotary rectifier module is composed of rotary diodes. Its operational condition in the overall structure of the brushless generator mainly depends on the quality of the module itself, its installation on the rectifier wheel, the force conditions, and the impact of the three-phase output voltage and current of the exciter on it.
The exciter is a armature AC generator. The armature winding is installed on the rotor. The winding is connected in parallel one or more times, then led out from the cable and connected to the input end of the rotary rectifier module. Due to the limitation of spatial position, the fixation of the cable on the rotor mainly relies on binding it tightly to the end of the armature winding and the end hoop installed around it with binding ropes. The connection end of the cable to the rectifier module is fixed to the yoke or sleeve with binding ropes or wire clamps to overcome the centrifugal force it is subjected to when the motor rotates at high speed. If the material of the binding rope is not properly selected, the binding method is unreasonable or the binding position is not at an appropriate place, the cable will be thrown out under the combined effect of centrifugal force and other tensile forces, breaking free from the binding rope and causing it to sweep the shaft, which will prevent the motor from working normally.
Due to the heavy weight and thick diameter of the cable, it is not conducive to the installation at the end of the armature winding. Therefore, it is proposed to change the parallel connection of the armature winding from multiple channels to one channel, thereby eliminating the cable. A new connection method is adopted between the armature winding and the rectifier module to change the current situation.
