1. Fire delay period

From the start of fuel injection to ignition, a diesel engine undergoes a series of physical and chemical preparation processes such as dispersion, heating and evaporation, diffusion, mixing and initial oxidation. It is an important parameter of the combustion process and has a direct impact on the characteristics of the combustion heat release process. Especially for high-speed diesel engines, the combustion process is very short, and the ignition delay period is relatively long, which can easily lead to a rough working process and high combustion noise. To this end, it is necessary to shorten the ignition delay period and reduce the amount of combustible mixture gas formed during this period.

2. Rapid ignition period

The fuel injected into the combustion chamber during the ignition delay period burns almost simultaneously during the rapid combustion period, so the heat release rate is very high and the pressure rises particularly fast.

3. Slow-burning period

At this stage, the combustion of fuel depends on the rate of mixing. Therefore, enhancing the air disturbance in the combustion chamber and accelerating the mixing of air and fuel play a significant role in ensuring the rapid and complete combustion of the fuel near the top dead center.

4. Post-ignition period

The mixing and combustion time of diesel engines is very short, so that some fuel cannot be burned up in time near the top dead center and is delayed until the later stage of the expansion stroke. The heat released is not fully utilized. Therefore, the combustion of fuel in the later combustion period should be avoided as much as possible.
