Change the engine oil
Due to the wide variety of diesel engine types and specifications, the requirements for the engine oil used are not uniform. Here are two replacement methods proposed: ① If the diesel engine manual does not specify clear requirements for the engine oil or there is no distinction between “winter” and “summer”, the engine oil should be drained while the diesel engine is still hot or after the operation is completed, when the water temperature is around 80 degrees Celsius. After no less than 24 hours of sedimentation, it should be added back for use. The settled oil base should be discarded. When the oil quantity is insufficient, new oil should be added. If the diesel engine manual has a distinction between winter and summer engine oil, summer engine oil should be replaced and used. The method is: Let the water temperature of the diesel engine reach 80 degrees, and while it is still hot, drain the engine oil completely (be careful not to burn your hand). After 30 minutes, tighten the oil drain plug, add an equal amount of diesel to the oil pan, run at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes, then drain the cleaning diesel and keep it for cleaning parts. This way, the oil circuit can be completely drained and cleaned, ensuring unobstructed operation of the oil passage and creating conditions for the trouble-free operation of the lubricating oil circuit. Add summer engine oil again.
2. Thorough cleaning
Remove the thermal insulation blanket and give the machine a thorough cleaning. Clean up the dirt, debris and grease, and give the machine a thorough face wash. During the process of cleaning, removing and washing, loose nuts, rivets and surface defects can be found, which should be replaced and repaired in time.
3. Clean the three filters and three screens
The air filter, diesel filter and oil filter are commonly known as the “three filters”. When cleaning the three filters, the main points to note are: ① The three filters are paper filter elements. Except for the air filter element which can be used after cleaning, the rest can be replaced with new ones. For metal filter screens and filter elements, they can only be cleaned with clean oil, a brush or an air cylinder. Use gas to blow out the dirt. Do not burn them. The “three networks” refer to the filter screens of the diesel filling port, the engine oil filling port and the exhaust port. They should be thoroughly cleaned to ensure smooth entry and exit.
4. Rotate the oil indicator
For diesel engines with “winter” and “Summer” rotary indicators engraved in the lubricating oil circuit (generally installed at the filter), the arrow of the indicator should be rotated to point to the “Summer” character to achieve a large circulation of engine oil. In this way, it can effectively prevent the phenomenon of oil pressure dropping due to excessively high oil temperature and reduce the wear of machine parts.
