How do I preheat a diesel generator set?

In the after-sales service of various brands of diesel generator sets, it is found that many customers do not know or even do not know the preheating measures of the unit when starting in cold climate, which is harmful to the unit itself. Here you can learn how to preheat a generator set.
First, the plug system provides heat to the cylinders, making the compression temperature high enough to ignite the fuel. When the temperature is 10 or lower, an inlet air preheater can be used to help start the diesel engine. The preheating equipment includes a hand pump for feeding the oil pump into the intake manifold and a switch for connecting the electric plug circuit. The plug is heated by a battery. Fuel is burned in the intake manifold to heat the incoming air. Warning: Do not use steam to help the preheater start, this can cause a fire. Secondly, the steps to use the preheater in the cold start process are as follows:
1) Adjust the throttle to idle position. Turn the electric plug toggle switch to the on position. The red light should be on.
2) Start the diesel engine 20 seconds after the red light is on. As soon as the diesel engine turns, the preheater hand pump starts, keeping the fuel pressure between 552-689 kpa. If a hand pump is used before 20 seconds, it will wet the plug and prevent heating.
3) If the diesel engine does not start within 30 seconds, stop running the diesel engine. Wait 1-2 minutes before starting.
4) After the diesel engine starts, the slow pump starts the oil pump to keep the diesel engine running at idle speed. In cold climates, idling may take 4-5 minutes or more. Do not increase the speed of the diesel engine.
5) Stop pumping oil when the diesel engine is warm and no longer vibrates during the injection stroke of the manual pump. Close and lock the overhand oil pump. Turn off the toggle switch of electric plug (red indicator light is off).
6) If the diesel engine does not show signs of starting during three full strokes of the preheater pump head, check the intake manifold for heat. If it is not hot, check the circuit. If the circuit is in good condition, remove the 3.2mm shut-off plug near the intake manifold electric plug, turn off the electric plug manual switch for 15 seconds, and observe the electric plug through the 3.2mm tube plug hole. The plug should be white hot, otherwise, connect the wire to the 6-12 V power supply and check the current. The low current of the mouth should be 30-32 A. If the electric plug is fine, check the resistance of the manual switch box (if used) and replace it if necessary. Note: The resistances of the preheater hand pump and switch box are set on the instrument and should be checked during the diesel engine starting process. It is also an aspect of generator unit maintenance that everyone must follow the above steps and always take care to avoid some of the above precautions in order to warm up effectively and start normally during startup and warm-up.
