How To Design Diesel Generator Room

The design specification of the diesel generator room is to have a higher utilization rate, so some problems need to be solved when designing, which can be improved at the beginning of the design, and there will be no design failures in future use. The situation in place happened.

Generally, the points that need to be paid attention to when designing a computer room are: the ventilation of the computer room, the location of some auxiliary settings of the diesel generator, the light and fire safety precautions in the computer room, the precautions for installation and debugging, and other issues. , Let’s analyze these points in detail below:

(1) Ventilation

The ventilation problem of the diesel generator room is a problem to be solved in the design of the engine room, especially when the engine room is located in the basement, otherwise it will directly affect the operation of the diesel generator set. The exhaust air of the unit should generally be arranged with hot air ducts in an organized manner. It is not advisable to let the diesel engine radiator dissipate the heat in the engine room and then be exhausted by the exhaust fan.

Sufficient fresh air should be provided in the computer room. When the diesel engine is running, the ventilation volume of the engine room should be equal to or greater than the sum of the fresh air volume required for combustion of the diesel engine and the fresh air volume required to maintain the room temperature. The fresh air volume required to maintain the room temperature is calculated by the following formula: C=0.078PT where: C-required fresh air volume (m3/s) P-diesel engine rated power (kW) T-engine room temperature rise (°C).

(2) Dustproof

If the equipment room is not well dustproof, it will also cause harm to the equipment. In the case of ensuring the ventilation of the equipment room, while taking into account the dustproof effect of the equipment room, install the air intake and exhaust louvers to ensure the air quality and air volume of the equipment room.

(3) Summarize the following points in the design of diesel generator room:

① For the ventilation of the installation site, sufficient intake and exhaust air must be reserved, and the area of the exhaust outlet is more than 1.5 times the area of the water tank.

② Keep the area around the installation site clean, do not put it together with some chemical reagents to avoid corrosion, it is best to place fire-fighting facilities.

③ When used indoors, the exhaust pipe must be led to the outdoors. The pipe diameter needs to be larger than the pipe diameter of the muffler. When installing the pipe, it needs to be tilted to a certain degree to avoid rain. Horizontal processing.

④ The shell of the diesel generator must be grounded, and it is better to be equipped with a lightning protection device. Neutral grounding with the grounding of the mains is prohibited.

⑤ The dual power switch (ATS) of the diesel generator and the mains needs to be very reliable to prevent reverse power transmission.

Four, matters needing attention when installing diesel generator

Diesel generator is a kind of small power generating equipment, which refers to power machinery that uses diesel fuel as fuel and diesel engine as prime mover to drive generator to generate electricity. The complete set is generally composed of diesel engine, generator, control box, fuel tank, storage battery for starting and control, protection device, emergency cabinet and other components.

(1) The installation site must be well ventilated, the diesel generator set must have enough air inlets, and the diesel engine must have good air outlets. The area of the air outlet is more than 1.5 times larger than the area of the water tank.

(2) The area around the installation site should be kept clean and avoid placing objects that can produce acidic, alkaline and other corrosive gases and vapors nearby. If conditions permit, fire extinguishing devices should be equipped.

(3) If it is used indoors, the exhaust pipe must be connected to the outdoors. The pipe diameter must be ≥ the diameter of the exhaust pipe of the muffler. The pipe elbow should not exceed 3 to ensure smooth exhaust. Tilt the pipe down by 5–10 degrees to avoid rainwater injection; if the exhaust pipe is installed vertically upward, a rain cover must be installed.

(4) When the foundation is made of concrete, the levelness must be measured with a spirit level during installation, so that the unit is fixed on a level foundation. There should be special anti-vibration pads or foot bolts between the unit and the foundation.

(5) The shell of the unit must have a reliable protective grounding. For generators that need to have a neutral point directly grounded, the neutral point must be grounded by professionals and equipped with lightning protection devices. Sex point directly grounded

(6) The transfer switch between the generator and the mains must be very reliable to prevent reverse power transmission. The wiring reliability of the two-way switch needs to be inspected and approved by the local power supply department.
