The first thing to understand is that the vulnerable components of a diesel generator set include air filters, oil filters, and diesel filters. To extend the service life of the diesel generator set, during its operation, it is necessary to enhance the maintenance of these three filters – the air filter, the oil filter, and the diesel filter – to fully utilize their functions.
When installing the air filter, ensure that all the sealing gaskets and rubber connection tubes are not missing, reversed, or wrongly installed, and guarantee the tightness of each connection point. For the paper dust collection cup air filter used, clean it once every 50-100 hours of operation. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove the dust from the surface. If the working time exceeds 500 hours or it is damaged, it should be replaced promptly. For the oil bath type air filter, clean the filter element with clean diesel every 100-200 hours of operation, and replace the oil in it. If the filter element is broken, it should be replaced immediately, and pay attention to adding oil as per the instructions during use.
If the oil filter of the diesel generator set is not maintained in time during operation, the filter element will get clogged, the oil pressure will increase, the safety valve will open, and the lubricating oil will directly flow into the main oil passage, which will accelerate the wear of the lubrication surface and affect the service life of the diesel generator set. Therefore, the oil filter should be cleaned once every 180-200 hours of operation. If it is damaged, it should be replaced immediately to prevent impurities from entering the lubrication surface.
When using the generator set in different seasons, it is also necessary to clean the crankcase and all lubrication surfaces. The method is to use a mixture of engine oil, kerosene, and diesel as the cleaning oil. After releasing the engine oil, add the cleaning oil for cleaning, then let the diesel generator set run at low speed for 3-5 minutes, then drain the cleaning oil, and add new engine oil.
The various fuel filters in the fuel supply system should be cleaned once every 100-200 hours of operation, and the oil tank and all oil pipelines should be cleaned. When cleaning the filter elements and seals, be particularly careful. If they are damaged, they should be replaced immediately. During the transition from one season to another, all components of the fuel supply system should be cleaned. The diesel used should meet the seasonal requirements and undergo 48-hour sedimentation and purification treatment.
Note: The air filter, oil filter, and fuel filter are vulnerable components. When the usage exceeds 500 hours, new ones need to be replaced to better extend the service life of the diesel generator set.
