What causes the Cummins generator unit to run “overheated”?

Cummins generator unit overheating operation will lead to diesel engine power reduction, acceleration performance deteriorations, wear intensification of the moving parts, serious will also appear pull cylinder, sticky cylinder, burning tile and piston burning top and other malignant failures, so it must be taken seriously. There are two main reasons for the overheating of Cummins generator set: one is the blockage of heat dissipation, cooling and lubrication system, resulting in overheating of diesel engine; Second, cooling system, lubricating oil system leakage, resulting in overheating of diesel engine.
Blockage of heat dissipation, cooling and lubrication system, leading to overheating of diesel engine: blockage of radiator or pipeline. Once the radiator and pipe are blocked, the cooling water can not circulate, Cummins generator set will overheat. The exhaust pipe is blocked. When the exhaust pipe is blocked, when the Cummins generator unit is running, the exhaust gas emission is not smooth, a part of the exhaust gas is left in the cylinder, to the next intake stroke intake, because there is more exhaust gas in the cylinder, fresh oil and gas mixture can not be fully in. When the spark plug ignites, the flame spreads and burns slowly, burning for a long time, forming a post-combustion. Parts in contact with gas, because of long combustion time, absorb heat can not be put out, resulting in overheating; At the same time, because the exhaust gas emission is not smooth, exhaust gas temperature rises obviously, the heat load of the whole Cummins generator unit increases, so that the generator appears overheating.
The oil filter is blocked. Under normal conditions, the Cummins generator set oil is through the oil filter into the diesel engine. Once the oil filter is blocked, the oil only passes through the bypass path to the various lubrication points of the diesel engine. In this way, because the oil is not filtered, it is easy to block the oil pipeline, resulting in poor lubrication, oil pipeline is blocked, and the heat generated by the friction couple can not be dispersed, resulting in overheating of the generator.
The oil filter is blocked. The oil filter screen is arranged at the inlet of the oil suction device in the oil pan to remove foam and prevent large impurities from entering the oil pump. Once the oil filter net is blocked, the lubricating oil supply of the Cummins generator set is interrupted, which will make the friction couple of the Cummins generator set appear dry friction, resulting in the generator overheating.
Cooling system, lubricating oil system leakage, resulting in overheating of diesel engine: radiator or pipeline leakage. Radiator or pipe leakage, due to the limited water storage of the diesel tank, the generator will overheat. Oil pan or oil pump leaks. The reason of oil pan or oil pump leakage is mostly due to the loose oil drain plug or the damage of the gasket. The result of oil pan or oil pump leakage is that the oil supply of Cummins generator set is reduced or interrupted. Because the Cummins generator set reduces the cooling effect of the oil, the heat of the friction pair of the Cummins generator set cannot be transmitted, so that the generator overheats.
