Check and repair Volvo genset timing gear operation?

The timing gear on the camshaft of the Volvo genset will wear for too long, which will cause the backlash to fire, so it will produce noise during operation. When their fitting clearance is greater than 0.20mm for bakelite (more than 0.15mm for steel), the gears need to be replaced. The minimum backlash should be able to be pushed by hand during assembly, and it is appropriate to turn the work lightly.
Experience has proved that after some gears are replaced, although the matching gap meets the requirements, due to poor meshing, the noise is often very loud, and it takes a period of time to break in to eliminate. Therefore, if the clearance of the original timing gear is slightly larger, as long as the noise is not large, it can continue to be used.
The teeth of the timing gear of the Volvo generator set should be smooth and free of nicks and burrs. The tooth thickness wear at the specified tooth height along the pitch chord should not exceed 0.25mm. The wear of the inner hole of the gear should be within the specified allowable limit. If there is no regulation, it should generally not exceed 0.05mm.
The width of the keyway should be within the specified allowable limit, if not specified, it should generally not exceed 0.08mm of the standard width. When the above-mentioned allowable limits are exceeded, the keyway should not be used except that the keyway is allowed to open a new keyway at a position of 120° from the old keyway.
