When adding antifreeze to the generator set for the first time, new users of diesel generators should observe the following points:
1. According to the local ambient temperature: use the ambient temperature conditions to select the freezing point (ie freezing point) of the generator set. Freezing point is an important indicator of antifreeze. Generally, the freezing point should be about 10°C lower than the local environmental conditions in winter.
2. According to the different performance requirements of the generator set: For example, imported diesel generator sets and ordinary diesel generator sets mostly use permanent antifreeze, while standby diesel engines can directly use antifreeze, which can be replaced by softened water in summer (not recommended);
3. Try to choose an antifreeze with anti-rust, anti-corrosion and descaling capabilities.
When using antifreeze for silent generators, please pay attention to the following points:
1. Check if there is no leakage in the cooling system, and then inject antifreeze;
2. Completely drain the cooling water in the cooling system to prevent the remaining water from diluting the prepared cooling liquid and changing the freezing point;
3. The antifreeze liquid has high boiling point, large heat capacity, small evaporation loss and high cooling efficiency. It should be noted that when using antifreeze, the engine cooling temperature is about 10°C higher than when using demineralized water. At this time, do not mistake it for an engine failure, and do not open the water tank cover to avoid burns due to hot air rushing out.
4. As antifreeze is toxic, please avoid contact with human body when using it, especially don’t get into eyes;
5. The antifreeze must be replaced when the car is cold. All antifreeze residues in the cooling system should be drained, washed with clean soft water and filled to the specified level.
